Introduction
INNATUS is the National Institute for Technologies and Sustainable Use of Brazil. We are a non-profit organization of the civil society, recognized by the Brazilian government and working for over three years in social and environmental areas. Our members have a long experience in these areas. It is our goal to develop activities for Sustainable Development respecting cultural diversities, biological and social aspects. Always viewing social and economical development with total respect to the natural and constructed environments and with minimum social impacts. We defend the possibility of social and environmental sustainability together with economic development and elimination of social inequalities. Articulating environment preservation with social demands. For these reasons we work with projects in which preservation and conservation is itself a method of generating welfare to regional populations, guaranteeing ecosystems and human sustainability.

Main Objects
Promote and realize actions through research and projects that view social and economic development together with environmental protection and better quality of life to local populations
Promote the defense of social rights and resources related to environmental and cultural heritage
Stimulate social economic development guaranteeing access to democratic institutions and ecological sustainability with protection of natural resources, cultural and biological diversities and human rights to future and present generations
Promote, realize and expose researches and studies, organize documents and develop projects related to environmental defense, cultural heritage and human rights – specially to poor communities
Promote exchange with other organizations and international and domestic institutions that are connected to projects, research and studies in the environmental and cultural areas. Specially directed to Latin America and Caribbean populations.
Expose, through information systems and media, knowledge and results produced by INNATUS and other organizations
Stimulate citizenship through environmental education with the intention to promote a better quality of life to people
Stimulate the knowledge and correct application of laws and instruments related to our activities
Stimulate studies to prevent and bring people to participate in avoiding environmental, cultural and social negative impacts
Realize impact studies related to human activities
Develop and spread technologies related to our objects
Stimulate and develop work related to the creation and structure or Conservation Units
Develop and stimulate activities that strengthen public policies that result in integrated actions towards Sustainable Development and Agenda 21

Institutional Experience
Previous work of INNATUS members as a team:
2001 – Ecotourism plan for the mountain area of the State of Rio with the Catholic university of Petropolis (UCP) and the Ministry or Environment of Brazil
2003 – Environmental Plan for two Private Heritage Reserves and their connection to other important conservation units in State of Rio
2003 – plan for creation of Protected Area in Paty de Alferes municipality – State of Rio
